چکیده
Understanding the behavior of human crowds is a key step toward safer society and more livable cities. Despite individual variability will single individuals, crowds, from dilute to dense, invariably display remarkable set universal features statistically reproducible behaviors. Here, we review ideas recent progress in employing language tools physics develop deeper understanding about dynamics pedestrians.

The Flow of Human Crowds
■ Abstract The modern study of a crowd as a flowing continuum is a recent development. Distinct from a classical fluid because of the property that a crowd has the capacity to think, interesting new physical ideas are involved in its study. An appealing property of a crowd in motion is that the nonlinear, time-dependent, simultaneous equations representing a crowd are conformably mappable. This...
متن کاملBrain Springs: Fast Physics for Large Crowds in WALL•E
A major challenge of making WALL*E was creating believable physics for human and robot crowds. To do this, Pixar technical directors combined a custom spring-physics system in the Massive software platform with traditional simulation methods. The performance was fast enough to scale for large crowds and maintain interactivity for previews.
متن کاملSocial Attention: Modeling Attention in Human Crowds
Robots that navigate through human crowds need to be able to plan safe, efficient, and human predictable trajectories. This is a particularly challenging problem as it requires the robot to predict future human trajectories within a crowd where everyone implicitly cooperates with each other to avoid collisions. Previous approaches to human trajectory prediction have modeled the interactions bet...
متن کاملFrom Individual Human Agents to Crowds
In this paper, we first try to identify which mechanisms are to be simulated in order to implement truly virtual humans or actors. Starting from a structure linking perception, emotion, behaviour, and action, we emphasize the central concept of autonomy and introduce the concept of Levels of Autonomy. Finally, we propose a new abstraction for the specification of behaviours in complex virtual e...
متن کاملMultiple Human Tracking in High-Density Crowds
In this paper, we present a fully automatic approach to multiple human detection and tracking in high density crowds in the presence of extreme occlusion. Human detection and tracking in high density crowds is an unsolved problem. Standard preprocessing techniques such as background modeling fail when most of the scene is in motion. We integrate human detection and tracking into a single framew...
